Coleridge，IloveyoufordedicatingyourpoetrytoBowles.Geniusofthesacredfountainoftears，itwashewholedyougentlybythehandthroughallthisvalleyofweeping，showedyouthedarkgreenyewtreesandthewillowshadeswhere，bythefallofwaters，youmightindulgeanunplainingmelancholy，adeliciousregretforthepast，orweavefinevisionsofthatawfulfuture，

Ihaveanothersortofdedicationinmyheadformyfewthings，whichIwanttoknowifyouapproveof，andcaninsert.Imeantoinscribethemtomysister.Itwillbeunexpected，anditwillgiveherpleasure;ordoyouthinkitwilllookwhimsicalatall?AsIhavenotspoketoheraboutit，Icaneasilyrejecttheidea.Butthereisamonotonyintheaffections，whichpeoplelivingtogetheror，aswedonow，veryfrequentlyseeingeachother，areapttogiveinto:asortofindifferenceintheexpressionofkindnessforeachother，whichdemandsthatweshouldsometimescalltoouraidthetrickeryofsurprise.DoyoupublishwithLloydorwithouthim?ineithercasemylittleportionmayelast，andafterthefashionoforderstoacountrycorrespondentIwillgivedirectionshowIshouldliketohaveemdone.Thetitle-pagetostandthus:—

Lambsinstructionsconcerninghisshareinthe1797volumewerecarriedout，exceptthatthesub-titlewasomitted.
