DearB.B.—Icongratulateyouongettingahouseoveryourhead.IfindthefortofitIamsure.AtmytownlodgingstheMistresswasalwaysquarrellingwithourmaid;andatmyplaceofrustication，thewholefamilywerealwaysbeatingoneanother，brothersbeatingsisters（oneamostbeautifulgirllamedforlife），fatherbeatingsonsanddaughters，andsonagainbeatinghisfather，knockinghimfairlydown，asceneIneverbeforewitnessed，butwascalledoutofbedbytheunnaturalblows，theparricidalcolourofwhich，thomymoralscouldnotbutcondemn，yetmyreasondidheartilyapprove，andintheissuethehousewasquieterforadayorsothanIhadeverknown.Iamnowallharmonyandquiet，eventothesometimeswishingbackagainsomeoftheoldrufflings.Thereissomethingstirringinthesecivilbroils.
